The "in-depth integration of breathing and movement" is also a core skill of advanced training. In the basic stage, it is only necessary to "exhale when exerting force and inhale when returning", while in advanced training, it is necessary to adjust the breathing rhythm according to the movement range and intensity. For example, the advanced version of "Pilates Hundreds": the practitioner lies flat, bends the legs and lifts them, with the calves parallel to the ground, and puts both hands on both sides of the body. Inhale to prepare, exhale to quickly pat the legs (reduce the range), and at the same time speed up the breathing frequency, keeping each pat matching one breath, feeling the breathing drive the body rhythm, rather than relying solely on muscle strength. The resistance change increases the movement difficulty and strengthens the muscle control ability. When adjusting the resistance, it is necessary to proceed step by step, starting with "low resistance out and medium resistance back", and gradually transitioning to "low resistance out and high resistance back" to avoid movement deformation due to excessive resistance.​
Advanced training also needs to focus on "movement variation combination" to break the limitations of a single movement. For example, combining "bridge pose" with "single leg stretch": the practitioner takes a bridge pose, lifts the buttocks, puts both hands on both sides of the body, inhales to keep the buttocks stable, exhales to slowly lift one leg, straightens the knee, stays for 2 seconds, then bends the knee and puts it back, and then switches to the other side. This combined movement can train the buttocks, core and leg muscles at the same time, improving training efficiency. Do 8-10 times per side per set, with a total of 3 sets. During training, it is necessary to keep the buttocks always higher than the ground to avoid falling back.​
Breaking through the bottleneck period also requires attention to two points: first, avoid blindly pursuing difficult movements, but first consolidate the foundation, and only advance after ensuring that the basic movements are standard; second, pay attention to the body's feedback. If advanced movements cause pain or discomfort, return to the basic version to adjust, and try again after the body adapts.
